The rise of digital marketing over the last decade has been enormous. Everyday we are exposed to brands, services and people sharing their message and voice online. It has become a staple and a priority to many organisations. The digital world has become a very powerful microphone, which in a way evens the playing field between companies and also individuals.
When I look into the rise of digital marketing it is important to understand our consumers. Consumers are the ones who are surfing Facebook until 11pm, the ones checking our phones 150 times a day, and are the ones who are now more connected than ever. Consumers have become much more savvy yet dependent on technology. The way we consume media has changed. Traditional mediums each and every year have seen declines whether it is the newspaper or TV. We have found new ways to receive the information we want, when we want it and how we want it.
Companies not only understand that there has been a rise of digital consumption but also that they can specifically target consumers. They are also able to understand the impact of their spend. Traditionally companies have always had a hard time understanding the impact of a campaign. Digital marketing has created the ability to have very deep and specific insights.
Consumers have changed and companies have adjusted. Digital marketing is here and it works, it is most likely the reason you are reading this article!
